About

"I love the little moments in life. They say so much in their simplicity. These seconds that make up our life’s story often slip by unappreciated, but when noted, we realize these glimmers of everyday life are the most beautiful, interesting and happy. These are the instants in time I am excited to create on canvas."

Debra Gurney lives in East Tennessee with her husband Larry. Besides spending time with her family and in her studio, Debra also enjoys hiking in the Smokies, boating on the Tennessee, nutrition and fitness, travelling, and her horses.

After years of having her life's moments full with raising five children and their four legged family members, she has new-found time in which she has rediscovered a favorite childhood pasttime, creating art.  Wanting to take her craft further and experience new media, she continues to attend classes at the University of Tennessee, Pellissippi State Community College, Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, and Oak Ridge Art Center.

She has her works in personal collections in: Kingston, TN; Johnson City, TN; Savannah, GA and LaFayette, GA.
